Pen Plotter
Computer numerical control (CNC) machinery is vital to a large variety of industries around us today. From nanotechnologies to car manufacturing, these machines are largely improving our ability to carry out complex and vital tasks. Thus, the Pen Plotter was built and programmed as a part of the Computer Numerical Controls class here at Berry College. Driven by an Arduino Uno, GCODE is sent from a computer to the machine via serial port and the plotter sketches the design using an expo marker attached to the machine. The Pen Plotter is built using limit switches, servo motor, extruded aluminum, acrylic, and various wires to optimize the images drawn
These 3 designs were created using the CAD software Fusion 360 and converted to GCODE using a post processor
These 4 designs were created through GCODE that was written from scratch. This process creates an understanding of GCODE that can be used to adapt and improve computer generated code.
These videos show the pen plotter in action drawing a circle and visually appealing shape.
My magnum opus image is this delightful dog.
